It’s been a remarkable month for the ATB/ Stokes Racing team with Rebel Tuesday and Chica Astuta striking gold and big rewards at Morphettville on three occasions in the month of February with team collecting around $126,000 for Rebel Tuesday and over $56,000 for Chica Astuta.
Whilst we bask in the glory of our recent success, we need to give a lot of credit to our breaker Tyler Aitken- Donaldson, Pre-trainer Stephen and Amanda Hill and the whole Stokes Racing team.
Rebel Tuesday by Rebel Dane from the Redoutes Choice mare – Mardi who hails from a strong black type family has won both her starts this preparation and is now a 2-yr old stakes winning filly who has collected $152,000 in prizemoney and has serious residual broodmare value of some $500,000.
At this stage her next assignment is Flemington in the Group 3 1000m Ottawa stakes on March 7th. Then she will spell before contesting the 3-yr old spring sprint races.
Last Saturday Chica Astuta, a filly bred by ATB and clients by Toronado out of our Foxwedge mare- Foxlago debuted as a 2-yr old over 1000m. Whilst she was a recent trial winner, she was not expected to do what she did on debut. She jumped well and then drifting back in running and was off the bit on the corner and certainly appeared to be struggling. Jockey Jacob Opperman- pulled out wide and she switched on and showed an impressive turn off foot to charge home and win by 1.48 lengths which was quite remarkable really.
With the lucrative SA Racing rewards bonus of $35,000 on offer, she collects $56,000 for the win and being a filly, has an expected residual broodmare value of more than $200,000.
Chica Astuta will return to Pakenham this week and the team will see how she is and then most likely spell her for a spring campaign or consider a throw at the stumps in the $1 m 2-yr old Vobis Showdown at Caulfield on March 14.
Whatever the decision and outcome-the team have two nice fillies who will be lining up for this year’s spring carnival.
