Luckyi'mbarefoot Storms Home To Win

Jun 22, 2014

Trainer Matthew Williams took Luckyi'mbarefoot to Cranbourne on June 22nd to contest the DeBortoli Wines VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Heat 5 over 1400m. Matthew had accepted for both Moonee Valley on Saturday and Cranbourne on the Sunday. Matthew deliberated on both and after careful consideration Matthew decided to run Luckyi'mbarefoot on a softer track and a race that was winnable.Winning this race will help Luckyi'mbarefoot gain a start into the Winter Championship Final to be ran at Flemington on July 12.

With Michael Rodd on board and jumping out of barrier 12, the Undoubtedly gelding jumped away and threw his head up in the air as usual. Michael soon settled the six-year-old gelding and had placed him at the rear of the field four wide, although this wasn't the original plan, having an experienced jockey like Michael on board he soon came up with plan B. Once in the straight Michael peeled him towards the outside and had to ride him hard. Michael rode the gelding aggressively and it got the best out of him. Luckyi'mbarefoot pinned his ears back and went on to win by 0.8L.
