Shiny Buttons Smashes The Field On Day One Of The Bool
Apr 30, 2014
On day one of The Warnnambool Carnival Shiny Buttons headed into his race, The City Of Warrnambool Handicap with a big bonus of handling a wet track. Over a distance of 1700m jumping from barrier seven with Brad Rawiller on board the Reset gelding started at favourite on the tote at $4.40.
Jumping out of the barriers Brad allowed Shiny to settle mid field and roll along at a tempo that suited the horse. At the 1100m mark the field were four wide from the fence with Shiny sitting in 9th position. Coming past the 600m mark Brad allowed the gelding to quicken and then from the 400m mark Brad maneuvered him through the field to give him clear running. Once clear Brad headed towards the middle of the track where the ground was better and off they went! Shiny pinned his ears back and took off for the finishing post and won by over four lengths.
This win added to the gelding prize purse of $24,000, giving him a total winnings now of $247,843. Shiny Buttons will now head to The Warrnambool Cup as second favourite. The only question we have now is who will ride him?
ATB will like to congratulate fellow owners on Shiny's win D & l Clarke, Gary Crow, Kevin & Sandra Eastwood, Sam Lord, Matt Ristevski, Vasko Ristevski, Paul Talbot, Luke Taylor, Gary Umbers, Ross Weightman, Alex Yee.
