Little hooves tell us Spring is near.
Aug 11, 2020
Spring brings plenty of excitement to the Thoroughbred industry.
Top level racing with the best horses in front of big crowds makes Spring the showcase time for the sport.
In 2020, the current pandemic will shape racing's prime time into something very different, with little or no crowds to witness the best of the best.
While the pandemic will dullen the frontline of racing, one natural element won't be effected.
The breeding season!
Thousands of little hooves will be running around during the next few months - the future of our sport!
The breeding industry is the lifeblood and thankfully the conveyor belt for the industries stars won't be touched.
For Esker Lodge, the breeding arm of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, the first of two dozen foals has already arrived safely.
Little 'Miss Marley' as she has been dubbed at the farm, graced this world during the early morning of Monday, August 10th.
From the viewpoint of the racing game, she will be a valuable little commodity.
Out of a Group winning South African mare, Chocolicious by one of Australia's new stallions in Deep Field, she will turn many eyes come sales time.
With an older sister as a multiple city winner, plenty will be expected of 'Miss Marley'.
But for now she is a little life enjoying her time under the watchful eye of a loving and caring mum.
Thankfully COVID19 has not effected this precious element of our industry.
