Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock takes Women's Racing to Michelle Payne

Dec 14, 2016

Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock (ATB) have joined forces with newly formed ladies only group, Women's Racing to race horses with trainer Michelle Payne.

This exciting new venture is exclusive only to women and encourages them to group together and race shares in ATB purchased horses that will be trained by the 2015 Melbourne Cup winning jockey.

Along with Women's Racing run by Kerrie Canning and Cheryl Disher, ATB proprietors, Darren & Liz Dance are wanting to open up the world of racing to women in the form of racehorse ownership.

As Darren explained, ATB look forward to getting ladies to the races and already have two exciting purchases ready for syndicating.

"Liz and myself are very excited to launch Women's Racing with Michelle Payne and to that end we secured two nice horses from the New Zealand Ready to Run. A beautiful Makfi filly, a great family, a great athletic staying type that should be a really nice 3YO in the Spring of 2017. And we also have the Mastercraftsman, just a lovely colt, really liked his breeze up and loved the way he attacked the line. I have seen that before in some very good horses we have raced."

"We can't wait for 2017 to come along so we can get involved with these horses with Michelle and to see all these lady owners turning up at the races and cheering loudly. There is a lot of fun to be had by all."

Payne a leader for women in racing sprung to world-wide prominence when she steered home Prince Of Penzance to become the first female jockey to win the Cup.

Having just recently been granted a dual licence to train as well as ride by Racing Victoria, she is relishing the opportunity to be the trainer for this unique venture.

"I am really looking forward to training for ATB and along with Women's Racing and their involvement, I certainly encourage all ladies to get on board."

Michelle was recently interviewed by Darren Dance and you can view that by clicking on the link below.

The first two horses exclusively being offered by ATB were purchased by Darren at the recent Karaka Ready to Run Sales in New Zealand.

A magnificent 2YO colt by Masterscraftsman and a lovely striding 2YO filly by Makfi were snapped up by Darren and his bloodstock team.

You can read more about both new purchases on our racehorse shares for sale page.
