Craig Williams to ride ATB’s Dandino in the 2013 Caulfield Cup
Oct 14, 2013
Leading jockey Craig Williams will ride Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock’s international stayer Dandino in the Caulfield Cup on Saturday week at Caulfield.
Williams, who has won the past two Caulfield Cups aboard Dunaden & Southern Speed, will partner the Marco Botti-trained galloper in the Caulfield Cup only, with UK hoop Ryan Moore expected to ride the horse in the Melbourne Cup.
Dandino is trained by Italian born UK based trainer Marco Botti in the UK and arrived in Melbourne on Grand Final day.
The horse was accompanied Botti’s Head Man Paul Francis and has impressed onlookers at the Werribee Quarantine Centre in his short time in the country.
The son of Dansili worked with Cox Plate hopeful Side Glance over 1400 metres on Wednesday morning at Werribee and looked in great nick working to the line ahead of his training partner.
A last start winner of the Grade I American St Leger (2700m) at Arlington in August, the same race his stablemate Jakkalberry won last year, Dandino earned more than $300,000 in prizen=money in his three starts for Australian Thoroughblood Bloodstock sicne being syndicated earlier in the year.
Dandino has firmed into $11 for this year’s Caulfield Cup and is on the fourth line of betting in latest markets.
He is $26 for the Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday in November.
