Griffo and Spider make it 23 and 24

Mar 03, 2018

Two successes during the week sees our win tally for the 2017/18 season now at 24.

Pleasingly for all concerned Chateau Griffo was able to break her Maiden in good style in the Jayco Maiden Plate over 1000m at Bendigo on Wednesday.

The Robbie Griffith's trained 3YO daughter of Sebring was far too good for the opposition - a patient Ryan Maloney ride allowing her to win with a bit in hand.

It has been frustrating for all concerned since her fantastic debut 3rd in last year's Blue Diamond Prelude behind quality pair Limestone and Tulip.

Hopefully now with the Maiden win locked away, she can enhance her broodmare value with a city win.

Well done to Griffo and Ryan for working out how to best prepare this filly, she responded well with hopefully more to come.

More importantly, congratulations to all her patient owners R Griffiths, Browns & Kirks, MJ Eastmure, DP Goss, GF Blomeley, CJ Blomeley & Mrs D Stokes.

Peruggia vindicated the decision to bypass last week's Group 2 race at Caulfield with a narrow but tough win in the Penang Turf Club Handicap over 1600m at Moonee Valley.

From a slightly awkward barrier, Brad Rawiller allowed the speed to settle before moving up outside leader and eventual runner-up Sensation Ally.

In a stirring battle, with the rest of the field closing late, the pair fought out a great finish right to the post.

Just when the mare appeared to get her nose back in front, Peruggia through Brad's strong urging found enough to record back to back wins at the track.

Four wins from 14 starts now sees the son of Strategic with a tick over $122,000 in prizemoney.

The 3YO colts next target could be the Mornington Guineas over 1600m on March 24th.

Another great Rawiller ride, now makes it four wins on ATB horses from his past nine rides. He is hot!

Once again plenty of excited owners converged on the winner's stalls, with congratulations going to K Patterson, KR Andrews, Tompin, Inas Racing, PJ Gallivan, IR Cashill, JW Andrews, Titil Eight Goes Racing, GD Jordon, DW Spicer, M Hall, GH Forbes, PB Shackson, Perry Family, B Franklin, Mrs BL Skidmore, JW Goodfellow, C Kerr & TB Racing.
