Alexander ready to do the 'HULA' with Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock
Mar 02, 2017
Young Ballarat based trainer Archie Alexander (below) is the hottest trainer in the state of Victoria at the moment.
And recent stats back up what is a break out season since taking up residence in Ballarat in 2013.
From his last 50 runners he has produced 14 winners at the incredible strike rate of 28%, while his Top 3 finishes are 26 at 52%.
They are impressive figures when you consider leading trainer Darren Weir is striking at 14% (Win) and 38% (Top 3) from his past 50 runners.
Strengthening Archie's climb up the training ranks shows sustained success, with the current season also measuring up against the legend in Weir.
In 2016/17 he has trained 20 winners (18.2%) and 45 Top 3 finishes (42.1%) compared to Weir's 267 winners (16.6%) and 425 Top 3 finishes (43.1%).
While the stables are different in size, the fact is his runners to winners/Top 3 stands up against the best.
It also seems to mirror the success other Ballarat trainers are having, hence why we have recently sent horses to Matt Cumani and Michelle Payne as well.
The training centre is world class and these well groomed trainers are getting the best out of the facilities.
As a syndication business with large volumes of owners, that's what we want - results!
While Archie already has a Pierro colt fully subscribed with ATB ownership involved, we also have a lovely staying type yearling filly heading his way.
This filly is one of the last homebreds on offer this season.
By DENMAN she is out of our well performed dual city winning mare, FLYING HULA.
Choosing Archie to train this filly was easy, as his European background as is with many other trainers thrive when training potential staying types - they are the best in the world at it.
Both Flying Hula's city wins were at Moonee Valley (2040m & 2500m), but she was also placed three other times on city tracks.
Six careers wins and over $150,000 in prizemoney sets up the daughter of Flying Hula to be a success in the breeding barn.
Denman has proven to be a consistent sire of winners over the past few seasons.
You can click on the link below for more info on this filly.
This is Flying Hula's second foal to race, her first is a 2YO colt by Helmet called Safety Dance.
Trained by David, Ben Hayes & Tom Dabernig she is currently spelling, but is due back at Lindsay Park later this month.
The stable have been impressed by her so far, but typically are taking their time with her so she can furnish both physically and mentally.
All going well she may race later this year.

The Denman x Flying Hula filly is due home from the breakers later this week, where she will spell for a month before heading back into work for more educational training.
At $3500 for a 5% share, plus costs from 1/1/2017 she is a very well priced filly.
